I am generally known to my friends and family as Jim. I trained as an actor and I am a fully qualified English teacher, having taken a detour through radio presentation and broadcast journalism en route.
Graduating with a degree in Community Theatre Arts from the Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama in July 1992, I spent the next dozen years or so plying my trade around the country with a plethora of Theatre-in-Education companies and making the occasional TV appearance.
In 2001, I became a part of the on-air team at Horizon Radio in Milton Keynes which, over the following two years, went on to win consecutive Sony ‘Gold’ awards for Station of the Year. I pioneered and presented The Score, a contemporary, up-to-the-minute blend of music and sports information, covered outside broadcast events and was the station’s first field reporter for the MK area.
Off the back of my own Theatre-in-Education project, “Mum...” I was invited, in 2005, to work full-time at a special needs school and to train as a teacher. Working with pupils with emotional, behavioural and social difficulties, one of my greatest and most satisfying teaching successes was the creation of a school band, which went on to perform at numerous venues and events throughout the city.
I am based in Milton Keynes and back in the freelance market, acting, writing, coaching and presenting. Vocal and screen demos will be posted on this site shortly - basically as soon as I've mastered the technology - and my blog can be found at www.devilsaardvark.wordpress.com
